XPO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: XPO) today announced the appointment of Christopher Synek as president of transportation in North America, reporting to Troy Cooper, chief operating officer. Synek has P&L responsibility for the company's brokerage, expedite, intermodal, drayage and global forwarding business units.

Synek has 20 years of executive experience in the energy and waste management sectors, most recently as chief executive officer of Tervita Corporation, an industrial environmental services provider with over $6 billion in annual revenue. Previously, he held senior leadership positions for over a decade with Republic Services, Inc., a waste management leader with over $9 billion in annual revenue, including seven years as senior vice president of operations. While with Cintas Corporation, a market leader of corporate identity products with over $5 billion in annual revenue, he served first as general manager and later as group vice president with executive responsibility for operations, sales and customer service.
